After the ribbon cutting, Vaughn was asked by Mayor McMillan what they did to earn the certification. Vaughn answered, “Some of the things we’ve done include offering reusable bags and encourage customers to bring their own bags. We adjust the thermostats, replaced all light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs. We save reports electronically instead of printing them, print double sided and recycle cardboard, plastics and paper. Clothing that does not sell is donated locally to Grace Ministries in Clarksville.”

McMillan asked the young employees, one who was off and graduating that day, but came specifically for the ribbon cutting, if they were recycling at home. She received a resounding yes from the group. Mayor Kim McMillan told Vaughn and the staff that she appreciated their efforts.

Vaughn expressed her appreciation to the County and the City for supporting the CMC Green Certification Program and provided the mayor with a tour and a Plato’s Closet and was given a Plato’s Closet reusable bag.
