CTS offers Safe Ride on New Year’s Eve

Clarksville, TN – On New Year’s Eve, the Clarksville Transit System will again offer safe rides home.

“Operation Safe Ride” is a free service open to anyone who is too impaired to drive home. People who live within the Clarksville city limits can call 931.553.2429 for a ride home between the hours of 11:00pm and 4:00am.

“CTS began this program more than twenty-five years ago and we are proud to have helped hundreds of people get home safely,” said Arthur Bing, Director of the Clarksville Transit System. “We’re happy to be able to offer the program again this year.”

Anyone who cannot, or should not, drive home on New Year’s Eve can call 931.553.2429 to request a ride. Information is also being posted in restaurants, bars and other stores around town with the phone number.

CTS emphasizes that this is not a shuttle service. People will be picked up at their location and driven directly home.

“I encourage everyone who needs a safe ride home on New Year’s Eve to take advantage of this service. Whether you are at a public or private party in Clarksville, we want to make sure you get home safely. Take this number with you to make sure you have a safe ride home and happy New Year celebration,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan. “I want to thank CTS for making this service available again this year and I truly appreciate the CTS employees who are giving up their own celebrations to provide this service.”
