Improvements made to Clarksville’s Wilma Rudolph Event Center

Clarksville, TN – The Wilma Rudolph Event Center (WREC), located at Liberty Park, recently received a facelift or, more appropriately, a glass lift. Contractors were on site April 21st-24th, 2014 applying over 6,000 square feet of window film to the event center’s glass interior.

The window film was carefully considered and selected so the natural beauty of Liberty Park view could still be enjoyed from the inside of the facility while reducing the sun’s influence from the outside.

The benefits from the window film were immediate. Since installation, the heat rejection and improved comfort inside the Wilma Rudolph Event Center has been readily evident on higher temperature days.

There are high expectations for energy savings through the reduction of the necessity for facility environmental controls.

The window film diminished the sun’s harmful effects to interior furnishings and is expected to significantly reduce replacement costs and extend life to the exposed surfaces inside of the facility. Patrons have found a much more comfortable environment due to reduced glare and eye discomfort which was previously experienced during events at the WREC.

Beside the potential for monetary savings and improved customer satisfaction, there is another benefit which is oftentimes is not considered—safety. The window film affords another level of protection from flying glass and debris during extreme inclement weather conditions.

The decision to change the original configuration of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center was made as a result of carefully considering customer needs, the ability to retain the natural view enjoyed by patrons of the facility and the savings which could be realized by improving the energy efficiency.

The transformation only took four days, but the benefits will be reaped for years to come.
