Clarksville Civil War Roundtable

Clarksville Civil War RoundtableClarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Healthcare. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Topic: “Haversacks, Hardtack, and Unserviceable Mules; the Civil War Journey of a Union Quartermaster in Tennessee.”

Our speaker this month is Dr. Nancy McEntee, historian, author, pilot, US Marine Corps veteran and more.

Quartermaster Captain Webster Colburn struggled to hold on to his humane and merciful character while surrounded by death and disgust. As an officer in the Army of the Cumberland, Colburn served in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky.

Drawn from her book on Quartermaster Captain Webster Colburn, she will speak about how he struggled to hold on to his humane and merciful character while surrounded by death and disgust. He was responsible for moving supplies, securing horses and mules and the removal of Union dead for shipment home during the war Dr. McEntee will have her book for sale at the meeting.
