Grubbs has been appointed as the Chair-Elect and will serve as the Chairman for the 2015-2016 term.

The CVB Board members are appointed by the City and County Mayors and serve a three-year term. The Board is responsible for attending bi-monthly meetings where tourism business is discussed and voted on, to include the annual budget and upcoming tourism related events.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau positively influences tourism in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area by promoting tourist attractions, hosting conventions, group tours and engaging in large-scale marketing efforts. Revenue for the CVB is generated through a percentage of hotel/motel tax. The CVB uses their fiscal resources to bid on regional and national projects, events and sporting tournaments.

The CVB is directly responsible for recruiting much of the tourism related revenue that comes into Clarksville-Montgomery County. Annual events such as the Go Commando Race, Miss Tennessee USA Pageant and the Rivers and Spires Festival play a key role in drawing visitors to the community.

Special events such as AAU Basketball Championships, Tri-Clarksville Triathlon, Big Cat Quest Fishing Tournaments and the HP Pro Tour Horseshoe Tournament have a large economic impact, and at times can exceed into millions-of-dollars in direct revenue.

Money brought into the community through tourism dollars helps to decrease the tax burden on the local citizens and create a better quality of life through increased need in retail, dining and recreation space.

“I have been honored to serve as the Chairman in the past and I am looking forward to continuing my role on the CVB Board and being part of this agency’s great leadership. This next year will be full of events and tourism opportunities that will positively impact the economic landscape of Clarksville-Montgomery County,” said Stroman.

Allbert and Persinger will serve on the Economic Development Council Board during FY14 as representatives of the CVB.
