Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – Twenty four members of TACA will exhibit woodturnings, ceramics, tapestries, and embroideries; as well as, traditional paintings and photography at the museum this month.

Most Tennesseans are familiar with the TACA (Tennessee Association of Craft Artists) Craft Fairs that take over Nashville’s Centennial Park every year. The events have repeatedly been ranked as one of the “Top Twenty Events in the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society.

Copper pieces by Nashville artist Ben Caldwell are part of the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists exhibit at the Customs House Museum.

The fair gives artists an opportunity to showcase their work, educate the community about craft, and pass on Tennessee traditions.

But this month the Customs House Museum gives art lovers a chance to view the artisans’ work in a more formal gallery setting.

Included in the exhibit are copper pieces by Nashville artist Ben Caldwell. Ben’s work was selected as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things for 2013.

Also featured in the show is Mary Deprez. Called Tye Dye Mary, she is known internationally for her expertise and precision with color and pattern. Mary’s wearable art has been sold internationally from Tennessee to the Great Wall of China and the native villages of Kenya, Africa.

Additionally, her clothing designs have been purchased by popular music stars Alan Jackson, Naomi Judd, Wynonna Judd, Ronnie Millsap, Rosanne Cash, T. Graham Brown and Melissa Etheridge, and have also appeared on the television hit series China Beach.

TACA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage, develop, and promote crafts and artists in Tennessee, working to preserve the tradition and heritage of Tennessee craft art since 1965. Along with the annual craft fairs there is a Best of Tennessee Biennial Exhibition to their Master Artist Apprentice Program held in conjunction with the Tennessee Arts Commission.

The TACA Regional Exhibition will run through March 30th at the Customs House. The museum will host program and events in conjunction with the show.
