Lois Lowry’s Award-Winning and Thought-Provoking “The Giver” Takes the Roxy Regional Theatre Stage, November 14th – 17th

Clarksville, TN – This November, the Roxy Regional Theatre explores the question, “What would you would be willing to compromise in order to lead a life free of poverty, war and suffering?”

Based on Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award-winning book, “The Giver” will captivate and transform both young and old alike with five public performances only, beginning Wednesday, November 14th, at 7:00pm.

In Eric Coble’s astonishing and moving adaptation of Lowry’s dystopian tale, twelve-year-old Jonas lives in a perfect world, one without war, fear or pain … but also one without choices. When he is selected to receive special training from The Giver — an old man who keeps all of the memories of the community — Jonas begins a journey to uncover the truth about life and the hypocrisy of his utopian world, discovering in the process what it means to come of age and take control of his own destiny.

Starring Rob Rodems as Jonas and featuring Jay Doolittle as The Giver, this thought-provoking piece is directed by Ryan Bowie with a cast rounded out by Kaitlin Doughty, Michelle Foletta, Leslie Greene and Colin Ryan.

“The Giver” plays November 14th and 15th at 7:00pm and November 16th and 17th at 8:00pm, wtih a 2:00pm matinee on Saturday, November 17th.

Tickets are $20.00 (adults) and $15.00 (ages 13 and under) and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at 931.645.7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain). Active duty military with ID can buy two tickets for the price of one for Wednesday and Thursday evening’s performances.
