Clarksville Athletic Club completes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification

Montgomery County, TN – The latest business to become Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified is the Clarksville Athletic Club (CAC), located at 220 Dunlop Road. A Green Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 20th to celebrate their green initiatives and completion of the program.

A few examples of their initiatives include: eliminating paper towels in the bathrooms by installing hand dryers, using occupancy sensors to cut down on electricity, recycling of cardboard and plastic and replacing old equipment with energy efficient equipment as well as equipment that runs on human power.

“Since we started recycling plastic bottles we have averaged 700 bottles per month which equates to over 8,000 plastic bottles being diverted from the landfill per year,” stated Brad Butler, CAC’s Corporate Wellness and Marketing Director.

“The thing that we like to see is that when you let your customers know what you are doing, they in turn will do the same at home,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan.

Butler told her that customers were actually bringing their bottles from home to be recycled.

Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers said, “We hope you are also encouraging your employees to recycle. We’re really proud of you for achieving this certification and we appreciate you taking part in our Green Certification Program.”

Clarksville Athletic Club was established in 1993. They offer an indoor and outdoor pool, racquetball and volleyball courts, fitness classes and training for adults and children and a unique cardio cinema theater that allows you to watch movies as you exercise.
