Montgomery County Parks Department Receives Recreational Trails Program Grant

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government was recently awarded the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant from the State of Tennessee.

Of the $565,000 in grants awarded by the Environment and Conservation Department this week, Montgomery County received the largest award of $120,000.

This grant, designated for Rotary Park, is for phase 2 of the boardwalk trail enhancement along Wall Branch Creek. County parks director Jerry Allbert states, “The boardwalk trail will be made ADA accessible from the parking lot to the pedestrian bridge once the project is complete. We plan to begin the project immediately and anticipate its completion by the summer.”

According to Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, “We are so pleased to be able to move forward with phase 2 of this project for Rotary Park. This park encompasses multiple trails and beautiful scenery, and anytime we get a chance to enhance the experience our citizens have in our parks, we are certainly excited to do so.”

Rotary Park is a 100-acre nature park with over five miles of hiking/biking trails, one large pavilion, two small pavilions, a large ADA-accessible playground, and restroom facilities.
