Applications will be taken Monday, October 17th thru Friday, October 20th from 9:00am to 12:00pm and that same Monday thru Thursday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Roxy Regional Theatre’s 29th Season Brings Something for Everyone

Clarksville, TN – With the musical hit Beehive: The ’60s Musical Sensation bringing down the house nightly through October 15th, the Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville, has opened its 29th season of classics, musicals, regional premieres and world premieres.
For two nights only, October 21st and 22nd, New York actor Ashton Crosby brings his tour of Mark Twain: Adventures in American Humor back to the Roxy stage. Then on October 28th and 29th, the infamous Mercury Theatre 1938 radio broadcast will be recreated live on stage with The War of the Worlds.

Help a local dog make it to the Big Time

Clarksville, TN – Shiloh is an 11-year-old Collie mix who was adopted from animal control in Nashville 10 years ago. He worked as a TDI certified therapy dog for 6 years, until he retired this year. His mom, Sandy, entered him in a modeling contest.
The contest is being held by Life+Dog magazine and P.L.A.Y. Pet Lifestyle And You. The winner will model a P.L.A.Y. dog bed in advertisements in Life+Dog magazine, and will also receive a P.L.A.Y. bed. Voting is being done on the Facebook pages of Life+Dog and P.L.A.Y.

Officer Beau Skinner Recognized by Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police as Middle TN Officer of the Year for 2011

Clarksville, TN – Officer Beau Skinner was selected by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police as 2011 Officer of the Year for Middle Tennessee. Officer Skinner was recognized for his heroic actions on the morning of January 25th, 2011, for entering a burning building and rescuing a woman and her two children.
He showed a complete disregard for his own personal safety and great bravery in this dangerous situation.

Professional Basketball Team Comes to UrbanFest

American Basketball Associations’ newest team; Nashville Soul, will participate in annual festival
Clarksville, TN — Nashville has the Titans, the Predators and now the Souls. The newest team to hit Tennessee; the Nashville Soul; will be at UrbanFest.

New minor at APSU to help pre-professional health students prepare for graduate programs

Clarksville, TN – When a student comes to Austin Peay State University wanting to be a doctor, he or she can pretty much major in any field. Typically, students enroll in biology, chemistry or psychology programs, but a few have been known to get degrees in subjects such as English or history.
“But they have to fulfill a number of prerequisites in order to go to med school,” Dr. Cindy Taylor, professor of biology, said.
Those prerequisites include several courses in science-related fields, such as biology and chemistry, and many professional health graduate programs mandate that students complete a certain number of volunteer hours and job-shadowing experiences before they apply for admission. [Read more]

Mayor Kim McMillan welcomes Federal support for Homeland Security Watercrafts

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan welcomed news that the City of Clarksville can proceed with the procurement of two watercrafts after receiving more than $300,000 in grant funding from the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Port Security Grant Program.
The City of Clarksville is one of Tennessee’s 11 Homeland Security Districts to be awarded federal funding from the Homeland Security Grant Funds. [Read more]

Mag’s Coffee Accepting Donations to “Bikers Who Care – Family Fund”

Clarksville, TN – On September 18th, 2011, after completing their annual toy run benefit, five members of the Bikers Who Care (BWC) organization died in their sleep from what has been determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning. The tragic, untimely deaths of these caring people not only resulted in a tremendous loss to the Clarksville community, but also forever changed the lives of twelve children.
