Montgomery County Commissioner Charlie Keene to be on “Clarksville in Review”

Clarksville, TN – This Saturday on “Clarksville in Review”, join Hank Bonecutter and his guest, Charlie Keene, Montgomery County Commissioner and local Pharmacist, as they discuss synthetic drugs, and the county’s rejection of a synthetic drug resolution banning the sale of those products locally.
Then, Beatles author Nancy Lee Andrews will be discussing the Beatles, her book “A Dose of Rock n Roll” and events next week to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. She along with May Pang and author Richard Courtney will host book signings in Nashville and donate proceeds to build a habitat house. Listen to WJZM and Wjzm.com, 8:00am-10:00am Saturday morning.

Last Chance to catch the Musical “Beehive” at the Roxy

Clarksville, TN – If you have not seen it yet, you need to get down to the Roxy Regional Theatre this weekend for the last three shows of “Beehive: The ’60s Musical Sensation”. This show features five hot women, a six-piece band and dozens of outrageous costumes. I think the shower curtain skirt was my favorite.
Kendall Anne Thompson, Brianna Hertzberg, Troy Jackson, Jenae Thompson, and Heather Anderson give magnificent vocal performances singing songs from The Chiffons, The Supremes, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and other ’60s pop stars. Several of the songs featured subperb harmonies.

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 in our new home at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Hospital. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and is always open to the public.

Clarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network will hold its first annual “Connecting for Good,” Resource Fair designed to connect nonprofit organizations with local businesses and the community. The event will be held on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 from 11:00am-4:00pm, at the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Office located at 25 Jefferson Street in the Green Bank.
Most people recognize that Clarksville-Montgomery County’s nonprofit sector—a rich array of organizations of diverse sizes and purposes deliver crucial services that bring hope and help to some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens. Calling All Prospective Cratchit Children: Auditions for A CHRISTMAS CAROL at the Roxy Regional Theatre on October 24th

Clarksville, TN – Local youth will have the opportunity to work alongside professional actors in A CHRISTMAS CAROL when the Roxy Regional Theatre holds auditions for the Cratchit children on Monday, October 24th, at 5:00pm.
The Roxy will be selecting multiple casts of the Cratchit children: Martha, Peter, Belinda and Tiny Tim. Interested auditionees do not need to prepare anything. A script will be provided for the audition, so they must be able to read. [Read more]
American Cancer Society Relay For Life Will Hold Kickoff Rally on October 18th at Waterstreet Events Center

Clarksville, TN – On October 18th, 2011 at 6:00pm, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® of Montgomery County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at the Waterstreet Events Center for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.
The rally will feature speakers from the community who have benefitted from the funds raised at Relay and will honor cancer survivors. This also will be the first opportunity to register a team and select a campsite for the overnight event to be held on May 18th at the activity field adjacent to the Hilldale Baptist Church Family Life Center. Several APSU faculty, staff announce recent activities

Clarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University announce their recent professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Edward Wayne Chester, professor emeritus in the department of biology and the Center of Excellence for Field Biology, was presented the Conservation Award for 2011 at the annual meeting of the Tennessee Native Plant Society in September.
The award is given yearly to a person who has long advocated and supported the conservation and stewardship of Tennessee’s natural resources, especially native plants. Chester taught various biology and botany classes, conducted research and published numerous papers on the plant life of Tennessee and the southeast for more than 40 years. He currently teaches adjunct classes in biology and continues his research and writing. [Read more]
