Living history with the 3rd Kentucky at Fort Defiance this weekend
Clarksville, TN – Experience history in action at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center’s Civil War Park this weekend, Saturday September 12th and Sunday September 13th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Throughout the two-day event, the 3rd Kentucky Infantry CSA will be demonstrating Civil War camp life and conducting rifle fire demonstrations.

APSU art professor Collins exhibits work in New York City show
Clarksville, TN – The Painting Center, an art gallery in New York City that is regularly mentioned in national publications such as The New Yorker and ArtForum, is hosting a solo exhibition this month of work by Paul Collins, Austin Peay State University associate professor of art.
The exhibit, titled “Into the Yellow Wood,” features a series of painted and collaged images that, according to the gallery, “examine the absurdity of the artist’s own unshakable romanticism. These works examine the construction of natural beauty under the scouring light of ecological Armageddon.”

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Youth Basketball League registration kicks off this week
Clarksville, TN – Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? Clarksville Parks and Recreation is proud to offer a Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 7 to 15.
The cost is $65.00 per player. Each player will receive a jersey, water bottle and award.

Five vocal alumni return to APSU for Distinguished Vocal Alumni Concert on September 25th
Clarksville, TN – Five accomplished singers and alumni will return to the campus of Austin Peay State University for the Distinguished Vocal Alumni Concert, held Friday, September 25th at 7:30pm in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall.
Since leaving Austin Peay, each performer has achieved regional, national and international acclaim for performances in opera, oratorio, chamber ensembles and recitals. Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for September 9th through September 17th, 2015
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Trees, Port Royal History Hike, Eyes of the Night, Evening Hike, Port Royal Morning Hike and Blindman’s Tree Hunt.

APSU, Woodward Library host exhibition on Lincoln and American Civil War
Clarksville, TN – In honor of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Felix G. Woodward Library at Austin Peay State University is hosting an exhibition, titled “Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War.”
On display from September 4th through October 15th, the exhibition will celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday, September 8th at 3:00pm in the Woodward Library.
