“The Board is excited to bring on board someone with Frank’s background and experience as a museum supporter and local businessperson with a wide variety of professional and personal connections in Clarksville and Montgomery County,” Martin said. “We could not think of anyone who could do this job better.”

The Museum Board worked with a consultant to conduct the search process which included interviewing almost 70 community stakeholders including board, staff, City and County government officials, business leaders, the education sector (public and university levels), and non-profits. The results of those interviews led the Board to identify Lott as the candidate who best met the necessary qualities and characteristics identified by those stakeholders.

In accepting the position, Lott noted that he has been involved with the Customs House Museum since its inception in 1983, serving three terms as board chairman. “I believe the Museum’s brightest decades are ahead and I’m truly looking forward to working with a great professional staff and engaging with the board, volunteers and members,” Lott said.

Lott and his partner, Jeff Bibb, recently announced the closing of their business, BLF Marketing, after almost 42 years of providing marketing consulting, public relations, advertising design, and media planning services throughout the Southeast United States.

He has also been involved in several community projects including the publishing of “Historic Clarksville – The Bicentennial Story” for Clarksville’s Bicentennial Celebration in 1984, serving on the Physical Planning Committee of the Tornado Recovery Task Force, and helping to develop the permanent exhibit and trail-marking system at the Fort Defiance Civil War Part & Interpretive Center.

Lott will be starting in the Museum position at the beginning of the new year.
