Austin Peay State University (APSU)

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – G.H.O.S.T. will haunt Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Fortera Stadium again from 4:00pm-7:00pm Sunday, October 28th, 2018.

The acronym stands for Greater Halloween Options for Safe Trick-or-Treating, and it’s a long tradition at Austin Peay State University.

G.H.O.S.T. originally hosted children of APSU students, faculty and staff, but the event has expanded to welcome anyone.

Austin Peay clubs and organizations – and community groups – dress up, hand out candy and play games. Some clubs build elaborate sets to dazzle the kids. One year, students set up a carnival. Another year, history students showed up in armor.

Here’s a look at two big ones coming this year:

A Dragon Protects The Castle

APSU’s Del Square Psi, which is the physics and astronomy club, is building a massive castle that will include a dragon. The chemistry club, or Chi Epsilon Mu, will provide special effects.

The castle will be 16 feet long and 16 feet wide, have a drawbridge, and APSU students will take turns in the stockade (no more than 15 minutes each, we promise!).

The Skeleton In The Cave Has Candy

APSU’s GeoClub has built a 20-foot-long cave that will be lighted with tealight candles, red chemical lights and white Christmas lights. Inside a skeleton will guard a treasure chest filled with fake gems. But first you have to get past the bats and spiders!

“We have TONS of candy,” said club president Jennifer Stephens. “And because we are the GeoClub, lots of rock candy as well.”
