CMCSS is being honored by the College Board for simultaneously increasing access to AP coursework while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams.

CMCSS is one of only 6 districts in the state of Tennessee to be recognized for this honor.

“The teachers, counselors, and administrators in the high schools have worked diligently to increase the numbers of students taking the more rigorous classes that can provide college course credit,” stated Director of Schools Dr. B.J. Worthington.

While the District Honor Roll is not a roster of higher performing districts, it is a roster of districts that are simultaneously expanding opportunity and improving performance.

“We are proud to be recognized for this honor for our district,” according to Dr. Worthington, “but the credit goes to the schools and the community for a concerted effort to increase the number of students taking and passing the exams.”

CMCSS has received tremendous support from community partners like Premier Medical Group, Wyatt Johnson Automotive Group, Domino’s Pizza, and Beach Oil Company. For the past 8 years, community partners have worked with the district to incentivize the AP Program through the Pass and Go Event. Each year, this event has grown from their efforts.
