Clarksville’s Riverfest Regatta a sure crowd pleaser

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 8th, the Clarksville Riverfest Regatta, also known at the cardboard boat races, took place at McGregor Park Boat Launch Area at 1:00pm. It was overcast, cool, with a steady down river wind.
Boats are constructed from cardboard and recycled materials and raced down the Cumberland River in a 100-yard dash. U.S. Bank was the sponsor of this year’s Riverfest Regatta. There were 10 entries and 9 took part in the races.

Clarksville, TN – The Visit Clarksville board of directors announces that Jerry Allbert has been named chairman for the 2017-18 year beginning July 1st, 2017
Allbert is director of the Montgomery County Parks Department and represents District 20 on the County Commission. He has served on the board since 2007 and as chairman in 2009-10.

APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board
Clarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.
The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.
CMCSS announces Eighth Annual Advanced Placement Pass and Go Event

Montgomery County, TN – Advanced Placement (AP) students of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System have the chance to win a brand new car from Wyatt Johnson, technology from Premier Medical Group, gas cards from William Beach Oil Co. and free pizza from Domino’s for passing one or more AP exams.
A total of 544 students, who passed 844 exams, are eligible to participate in the 8th Annual Wyatt Johnson Pass and Go event. For each AP exam students pass with a score of 3, 4 or 5, their chances increase to win.
Clarksville Youth Educational Excursion

St Louis, MO – Youth from Clarksville, Tennessee embarked on an educational excursion that began with the Missouri Historical Museum where they learned about the Missouri’s rich history and viewed the NFL Hall of Fame exhibits.
The next day the group went on a walking guided tour around them Arch prior to taking the tram to take in St Louis from the top followed by a Riverboat cruise. Upon disembarking the group visited the Historical Courthouse where the Dred Scott Trail took place and were able to participate in the reenactment of the trial.
