Tennessee Artist Brings the Outdoors in To the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum currently is featuring the dynamic landscapes of award-winning artist Frank Baggett in its Crouch Gallery exhibition Surroundings: The Art of Frank Baggett. Bold palettes of earthy colors move across the canvases in sharp strokes and golden highlights of reflected sun.

The viewer is instantly drawn into the riverbeds and forests of Frank’s world with the sense of having crossed these familiar paths before on a lazy summer day.

Frank Baggett is a nationally-known Tennessee artist working in oils and acrylics. He became a successful landscape and wildlife artist after a first career with the United States Air Force. Frank is a member of the National Oil Painters Society, the American Impressionist Society, Inc., and the Chestnut Group.

Baggett’s painting Cutbank Tree was juried into the 2015 Annual American Impressionist Society Juried Art Exhibition which will be held at Trailside Galleries located in Scottsdale, Arizona. His impressionist paintings can be found in collections throughout the U.S. and he was recently featured, along with fellow landscape painters, in the August issue of Southwest Art magazine.

Baggett says of his work, “All of my life I have had the pleasure to hunt, fish, see a sunrise, and enjoy nature’s wonders of the world that I live in. I wish very much for my children’s children to have the same pleasures from life as I have. Painting is the way for me to show what I have witnessed, experienced, and dreamed during my life.”

Surroundings will be on exhibit through January 4th. Located at the corner of Second Street and Commerce Street, the Customs House Museum is the second largest general museum in Tennessee.

Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.
