“I remember what bit me,” he recalled. “I was on a ValuJet flight out of Florida. It was stormy, and I was scared, but when we got to the top of the clouds, it looked like snow.

First Annual Wags & Wings Family Fun Fest has huge turnout

Clarksville Regional AirportClarksville, TN – Wags & Wings Family Fun Fest combined pet-friendly activities with aviation exhibits for a one-of-a-kind festival experience that attracted more than 2,200 people to Clarksville Regional Airport, October 14th, 2017.

Presented by the Airport, the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County and title sponsor Fortera Credit Union, organizers called the multi-faceted first year event a high-flying success.

Longest-Held Enlisted POW Bill Robinson to Speak at Clarksville Event on September 15th

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – On September 20th, 1965, Airman 1st Class Bill Robinson began a typical mission day as part of the team trying to rescue a downed pilot in North Vietnam. Enemy ground fire downed their helicopter and the crew and pilot were captured.

The Vietnamese would not release Robinson for seven years and five months, making him the longest-held enlisted man in US military history.

APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board

Tennessee Higher Education CommissionClarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.

The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.

Painter Gail Meyer and Photographer Tony Centonze to Exhibit at Planters Bank

Planters BankClarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery space will feature works from local artist Gail Meyer, along with photographs from Tony Centonze. The exhibits will be on display Thursday, February 7th-Wednesday, March 6th at 1971 Madison Street during regular bank hours.

Meyer began her art studies in 1972 at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. With a husband in the U.S. Air Force, Meyer’s ability to study art was tabled by military moves, family life and motherhood.
