Pink treadmills were purchased and installed, with visual-added impact, to capture the attention of its patrons and join in the fight against breast cancer, supporting breast cancer research.

Starting October 2012, the miles collected on the pink treadmills resulted in more than $1,500 donated in support of research to cure breast cancer.

Cheryl Bernardo, Retention Director, stated that “…Clarksville Athletic Clubs knows the importance of giving back to our community. We are proud to have been a part of this wonderful cause, so we decided to continue all year long. I challenge (other) businesses to be part of this cause to give back. We must find a cure.”

We are hopeful that the Clarksville Athletic Club will set the standard for businesses in the Clarksville community, that the Clarksville business community will provide unified support to the American Cancer Society in its fight for a cure.

The effort has been well received by the Clarksville Athletic Club and has since been adopted to continue for the duration of the year. We are proud for the advocacy of the Clarksville Athletic Club and that, while promoting fitness and wellness, it is cultivating a sense of community with its patrons and promoting the importance of giving back.

Jerri Rule, Community Representative for the Mid-South Division of the American Cancer Society, works tirelessly in the Clarksville community and throughout Montgomery County to advocate the many programs and activities that support the American Cancer Society. Rule has worked a number of years with Relay For Life, a signature program that focuses on fighting cures for all forms of cancer.

Rule adds that “…cancer doesn’t take a break, so we must continue our fight to find cures for all cancers, throughout the year.” Rule adds that the American Cancer Society, with its Relay For Life signature event on May 17th, 2013 offers food, fun and games for the entire family while celebrating survivors and remembering those lost.
