Wyatt-Johnson “Shares the Love” and Christmas dinner with Fort Campbell soldiers
Clarksville, TN – A group of very special USO soldiers and their families from Fort Campbell recently enjoyed a delicious holiday meal and a visit from a jolly old elf while celebrating a wonderful cause.
As the soldiers, families and children (approximately 130 people total) arrived at the Wyatt-Johnson Subaru-Hyundai-Mazda dealership, they were greeted by Santa’s helpers (aka Wyatt Johnson employees) and were served a traditional Christmas meal catered by Margie Johnson. The group feasted on ham, turkey with all of the fixings, and a variety of delicious desserts.
“It was a wonderful evening for everyone involved,” said Elizabeth Devers, the event organizer. “The children loved seeing Santa, and it was a great way to thank our troops and their families for their continued service.”
The event was hosted by Wyatt-Johnson as a part of Subaru’s 5th annual “Share the Love” national campaign. For every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from November 21st – January 2nd, 2013, Subaru will donate $250.00 to the customer’s choice of one of five charities – Alzheimer’s Association, ASPCA, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Meals on Wheels Association of America, and the USO. Since this Subaru campaign began in 2007, nearly $20 million dollars has been donated to charities nationwide.
The local Subaru dealerships are encouraged to work with these charities to “Share the Love” and help others in the community. For the last four years, Wyatt-Johnson has hosted a special holiday event in collaboration with one of the five charities.
Last year, the automotive group treated a group of very special Make-A-Wish Foundation children and their families to a Nashville Predators hockey game. This year, Wyatt-Johnson partnered up with the USO to plan this holiday feast as a special way to say thank-you to the Fort Campbell soldiers for their service and sacrifice.
This special meal for soldiers was only a part of Wyatt-Johnson’s collaboration with the USO. In addition, the automotive group is also sponsoring a military book drive – people are encouraged to drop off children’s books by approved authors such as Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle and C.S. Lewis (see PDF approved list below) into the USO box at the Wyatt-Johnson Subaru-Hyundai-Mazda dealership, located at 2425 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

People visiting the Wyatt-Johnson Subaru dealership are also encouraged to write messages that will be sent to the soldiers along with the books.
“Every day across the globe, our troops willingly place themselves in harm’s way to protect our nation,” said Devers. “We’re hoping that these ‘Share the Love’ monetary donations, children’s books and special notes will remind them that they are always in our thoughts and prayers, especially during this holiday season.”
