Bi-county holds Household Hazardous Waste Day

Montgomery County, TN – Bi-County Solid Waste Management will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, April 9th from 8:00am to 2:00pm in the Veterans Plaza Parking Lot on Pageant Lane. The collection site will accept items such as. household cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, gasoline, transmission fluid, pool chemicals, etc.

Volunteers Needed
Montgomery County, TN – The Brandon Hills Heritage Youth Garden Spring Planting will be Saturday March 19th at 1:00pm. The garden is located on the corner of Commerce Street and Glenn Street in 2 empty lots. Take Madison Street to 12th Street (turn by the funeral home) and follow it back into the neighborhood. 12th Street turns into Glenn; when you come to a 4-way stop you will be at Glenn and Commerce and the garden is off to the right.
Dress to work! Bring gloves and other gardening tools (mark your tools so they don’t get mixed up or lost).
We will plant cool-season crops (transplants & seeds). I also need someone who can till up two large areas (they have a tiller).
Bi-County Household Hazardous Waste Day April 9th

Montgomery County, TN – Bi-County Solid Waste Management will be having it’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Saturday, April 9th from 8:00am – 2:00pm in the Veterans Plaza Parking Lot. Veterans Plaza is located at 350 Pageant Lane.
Items accepted from Montgomery County and Stewart County residents only. No commercial items will be accepted.
Batteries, oil, paint, anti-freeze and electronics will no longer be accepted since these items are accepted year round at the Bi-County Landfill located at 3212 Dover Road. [Read more]
4-H Chili Luncheon

Montgomery County, TN – The Annual 4-H Chili Fundraiser will be held on Tuesday March 22nd, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Civic Hall in Veterans Plaza.

Barnes and Pitts Support Unemployment Benefits for Military Spouses

Clarksville, TN – On March 10th, at 12:00noon, State Senator Tim Barnes (D-Adams) and State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville) announce a bill to help Tennessee military families by extending unemployment benefits to individuals who leave their jobs to accompany their spouses on a military transfer.

The premise of the reality show is to recognize the struggles of military families and those who serve. Military family reunions have become an online sensation, where millions of people have been inspired watching footage of loved ones reconnecting with their Service Member. Coming Home follows the lives of military families across the nation. During each segment the deployed soldier comes home to surprise his or her family in a dramatic, and emotional, reunion. Montgomery County, TN – Mark your calendars…the Montgomery County Archives Department is hosting an open house on Tuesday, February 22nd from 9:00am to 11:30am. This event will allow citizens to take a tour of the facility and give them a chance to see the wide variety of documents which are housed by Archives.
Montgomery County Archives provides knowledgeable people in the genealogy field that will assist a person in researching their family history and it also provides the numerous resources necessary for that research!

Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter to receive $1000

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter non-profit group will be receiving a $1,000 check from Murray State University on Thursday, January 13th at 1:30pm at Montgomery County Animal Control and Adoption Services, 616 North Spring Street.
The check is a the second place prize for a Student Philanthropy Course project at Murray State University that Cassandra Dixon entered. Her class was asked to intern with a non-profit organization and write about the experience. “I’m an animal lover, so it (Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter) was a great fit for me,” said Dixon.
