Colder Weather Causes Electric Bills to Increase

Clarksville, TN – According to CDE Lightband, many customers are currently seeing electric bills that have doubled from last month due to the colder weather Clarksville experienced in December.
Based on weather statistics maintained by CDE Lightband, December was 63 percent colder than November overall. The average high temperature for December was 51 degrees, compared to 62 in November. December also saw some morning temperatures in the teens and low twenties. [Read more]
Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s 2nd Annual Sports Festival is seeking exhibitors

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks & Recreation is seeking sports-related businesses and organizations interested in exhibiting at the 2nd Annual Clarksville Sports Festival. The all-day event celebrating the local sports and athletics community will take place March 17th, 2012 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the APSU Foy Center.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area YMCA is once again offering Journey to Freedom. This small group is limited to 10 participants and meets weekly for an hour and a half. A new group starts January 24th and will meet every Tuesday from 6:30pm–8:00pm through March 20th.

New Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library Director Named

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library Board of Trustees recently appointed Martha Hendricks to the full-time position of Library Director. Martha has previously held the positions interim director and assistant director.
She has been with the library for more than three years and worked with the Warioto Regional Library program for more than thirteen years. She holds two degrees from the University of Kansas, a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting along with a Masters of Science degree in Information Sciences from UT Knoxville. Austin Peay State University VA counselor receives Patriot Award

Clarksville, TN – As a Veterans Affairs financial aid counselor at Austin Peay State University, Elizabeth Stonerock was told she had a disgruntled student waiting to see her.
Walking out of her office in the Ellington Building to the lobby to meet with the student, Stonerock immediately was greeted with applause and cheers.

Lasaters Christmas Cash Sweepstakes winner receives $1000

Clarksville, TN – Lasaters Coffee and Tea has announced the winner of their $1000 cash sweepstakes giveaway. In a presentation ceremony Friday at the Sango location of the popular coffee shop, Michael Clark of Clarksville received his $1000 check.
In a promotion that included WJZM radio, and Clarksville Online, Lasaters offered a chance to win the one thousand dollars, along with other prizes including an ipad, roku box, and more. The contest received over eight thousand entries.
