Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for October 24th through October 25th, 2015

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Introduction to Dunbar Cave SNA, Volunteer Opportunity and Port Royal History Hike.
“Free at Last” traveling exhibition on Emancipation and Reconstruction on display at Fort Defiance Civil War Park

Clarksville, TN – For the last year of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area has expanded its traveling exhibition about emancipation and Reconstruction. “Free at Last!” tells the momentous story of the transition from slavery to freedom and the development of citizenship among formerly enslaved African Americans.
Doubled in size to eight banner stands, the exhibition now has panels focused on each of Tennessee’s three grand divisions. “Free at Last!” is available to museums and historic sites free of charge and is on view at the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center in Clarksville from now to December 10th, 2015.

Performance in Support of National Bullying Prevention Month
Clarksville, TN – Country singer-songwriter and bullying prevention spokesperson, Kylie Morgan, will be perform at Governor’s Square Mall on Saturday, October 17, in support of National Bullying Prevention Month. The performance will begin at 1:00pm in Dick’s Sporting Goods Court. There will be a free meet & greet with Kylie at Vanity immediately following the performance.
Kylie Morgan is a 19-year-old country music artist from Newcastle, Oklahoma. At age 15, Kylie wrote the song, “Phoebe” in honor of Phoebe Prince, a young girl who committed suicide due to childhood bullying.
APSU Choral Activities presents Fall Choral Concert, Choir Fest in October

Clarksville, TN – This fall is shaping up to be another busy semester for Austin Peay State University Choral Activities, as current APSU students will display their talents, while hundreds of young music students from across the state will get a chance to experience what the University has to offer.
At 7:30pm on October 22nd, the Clarksville community will get their first chance this year to hear the University’s talented group of singers with a concert at the campus’ George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall. The Fall Choral Concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature both choral groups performing an eclectic array of music, as well as a choral union performance of both groups. [Read more]

The Skating Dead: Season Finale for the ClarksVillain Roller Girls

Clarksville, TN – The ClarksVillain Roller Girls final game of the season is Saturday, October 17th at the Clarksville Speedway. The zombie-themed bout starts at 7:00pm, and doors open at 6:00pm.
There will be a live band at halftime and a zombie costume contest. So, arrive dressed to impress (the zombie judges, that is) and get there early for good seats!
After a great season putting new skills to the test, adding new members, and taking on new teams in the region the girls are excited to play the Southern Illinois Roller Girls in their final bout of the season.

Clarksville, TN – The Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, invites children and adults with mental or physical disabilities to Adaptive Swim Day on Friday, October 30th from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
Learn more about our Adaptive Swim Lessons, become familiar with the pool and meet our instructors. Swimmers will have the opportunity to get in the water, access the Wibits, and enjoy crafts and refreshments.
