APSU TRiO SSS program receives five-year, $1.3 million federal grant

Clarksville, TN – In 1998, Austin Peay State University initiated the TRiO Student Support Services program—a federally funded program designed to help those students who are first-generation college students, disabled or who come from low-income backgrounds.
APSU’s Student Support Services (SSS) has assisted thousands of students in the last 17 years, and the program will continue to serve even more thanks to the recent awarding of a five-year, $1.3 million U.S. Department of Education grant.
Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale begins Thursday, October 29th

Book Sale Continues Through Halloween
Clarksville, TN – The Friends of the Library Fall Book sale will open Thursday the 29th at 4:00pm with the Friends-only preview until 7:00 pm that evening. Anyone may join the Friends at the door for as little as $5.00.
Thousands of used books from fiction to a myriad of non-fiction subjects to children’s books will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the book sale go to support the public library. The sale continues for the general public on Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and on Saturday (Halloween) from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

APSU grads create debut comic book, titled “My Name is Proxy”

Clarksville, TN – Long before the release of his new co-created comic book, titled “My Name is Proxy,” Barry Williams made a career for himself helping other writers and artists make their creative visions a reality.
In addition to his duties as a husband, father and teacher, Williams has worked as a colorist on numerous independently released comic book titles, including “Iron Ghost,” “Atomik Mike,” “Monsterpocalypse,” “Red Dwarf: Prelude to Nanarchy” and “Ghost Whisperer.”

Clarksville Christian Concert Choir Invited to Perform at Disneyworld

Clarksville, TN – The concert choir at Clarksville Christian School auditioned for and was invited to perform in the Christmas Candlelight Processional concert at Walt Disney World for two performances on December 4th, 2015.
The Christmas Candlelight Processional is the largest show in the parks for the Christmas season. They will join with other choirs and a professional orchestra to sing twelve songs, including a finale of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
Premier Medical adds Dr. E. Thomas Bernhoffer to Doctors’ Group Practice

A native of Ohio, Dr. Bernhoffer is a graduate of the University of Toledo and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He participated in the National Health Service Corps.

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Hospital. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.
