2012 Clarksville Sports Festival to feature a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities this weekend

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be kicking off its second-annual Clarksville Sports Festival on Saturday, March 17th, at the Foy Fitness Center located on the campus of Austin Peay State University, with a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.
The day-long festival is a celebration of sports and athletics in Clarksville and Montgomery County that will feature not only clinics, sports demonstrations and interactive areas, but also seminars and even an exposition area where over 20 of Clarksville and Montgomery County’s athletic and outdoor clubs, businesses and organizations will come together in one location. Clarksville Parks and Recreation Youth Recreation Leagues Registration is underway

Clarksville, TN – Registration is underway for the Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s Youth Recreation Leagues. Participants can register no later than March 30th at any of our community centers, the Parks & Recreation Main office as well as online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com.
The baseball, softball and t-ball league is open to youth ages 5 to 14. Birth certificates are required at registration to verify the child’s age. All games are played at Heritage Park Baseball Fields. [Read more]
Kleeman Haunted Mansion begins Tonight

Clarksville, TN – Come out for a night of fun and frights at the Kleeman Community Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane. The haunting will take place October 28th and 29th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
Cost is $2.00 for adults (Ages 18 and up) and $1.00 for children (Ages 6-17).

Indoor Aquatic Center offers Instructional & Fitness Swimming for Pre-Competitive Swimming

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department offers an Instructional and Fitness Swimming course at the Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence, located at 166 Cunningham Lane. The first session begins October 22nd.

Kleeman Community Center goes coastal with Senior Social Luau

Clarksville, TN – Seniors, grab your grass skirts and put on your shell necklaces because this month’s Senior Social is a luau! The September Senior Social at the Kleeman Community Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on September 30th and is open to anyone 50-years-old and over.
Admission is $2.00 and includes refreshments. Members of the Polynesian Association will be dancing at the social as well as teaching dances. [Read more]
New Providence Pool temporarily closed due to burst pipe

Clarksville, TN – New Providence Pool, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, will be temporarily closed this weekend after a main water pipe ruptured. The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department hopes to have the problem remedied by Monday evening. The pool should be back open to normal operating hours Tuesday, July 26th.

Mayor Kim McMillan to Announce Fitness Council Members

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will announce members of the Mayor’s Fitness Council at a July fitness event at 5:00pm Wednesday at Smith Pool.
Following the City Council’s approval on July 7th to establish the Fitness Council, McMillan will appoint the members to the new board, which will take a pro-active, multi-faceted approach to helping residents achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle via education, becoming more active and proper nutrition. Movies in the Park 2011 season to kick off May 28th

Clarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the FREE outdoor movie series at the Heritage Park Soccer fields, wrapped up its 2010 season with record attendance numbers.
The eight 2010 Movies in the Park films had an average crowd of more than 500 moviegoers per movie throughout the season. Monsters v. Aliens on May 22nd set an attendance record for the 5-year-old series with a crowd of more than 1,300 people.
