Bowl for Kids’ Sake Benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Big Brothers Big Sisters is recruiting teams for their 30th annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake. The annual fundraiser has brought the Clarksville community together to raise funds for the non-profit’s mentoring programs for many years. This event is expected to raise $80,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville.

The Main Event will be going green on Saturday, March 17th, 2012 at The Pinnacle. The times are 9:00am to 3:00pm. Last year, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System raised an impressive $18,400 with teams comprised of students, faculty and central office personnel. [Read more]

Fort Campbell Soldiers receive Clarksville Mayor’s Certificates

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Two Fort Campbell soldiers, Scott Puckett and Joseph Demille, received Mayor’s Certificates for taking action and assisting law enforcement in capturing burglars in December 2011.

On December 27th, 2011, a little after midnight Joseph Demille caught three teenagers breaking into vehicles in his neighborhood. He took decisive action and detained the men until Clarksville Police arrived.

Clarksville City Councilman Nick Steward to make Special Announcement

Nick StewardClarksville, TN – Clarksville City Councilman Nick Steward will hold a public meeting and press conference tomorrow, the 1st of February, 2012. This meeting will be held at the offices of Keller Williams Realty located at 2271 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard in Clarksville. It will began at 12:30pm and will last for approximately 20 minutes.

Councilman Steward will discuss his plans to run for State House District 74 during the 2012 election cycle. Please join Nick for this special occasion.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan holds Press Conference on Charter Revision Plan

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan held a press conference Friday January 24th, 2012 at 11:00am to discuss her plan for addressing the needed revisions to Clarksville Charter.

Some of the topics covered included the need to update and revise the City Charter and the issue of people on boards and commissions who also having dealings with the City as well as appointing a Charter Revision Commission.

Mayor McMillan is sending the Charter Revision back to the Clarksville City Council for another vote.

Another Step Closer for the Clarksville Marina

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Mayor Kim McMillan received notification that the Army Corps of Engineers has approved the lease agreement between the City of Clarksville and Cumberland River, LLC.

“Corps approval is a critical step in moving forward with development,” explained Mayor McMillan. “Once the City Council approved the agreement on Tuesday night, we immediately moved forward to sign and forward it to the Corps for review. To receive approval within 48 hours is a direct result of our hard work and commitment to completing this project. We are very appreciative of the wonderful working relationship we have with the Corps and their enthusiasm for the project and we look forward to working with them to bring it to completion.” [Read more]

Clarksville City Councilman appointed by Governor Haslam

The Seal of the State of TennesseeNashville, TN – A Clarksville city councilman has been appointed to a state board by Governor Bill Haslam. It was announced today that Ward 1 councilman Nick Steward has been appointed to The Tennessee Pest Control and Licensing and Advisory Board.

This board meets to consider special licenses for individuals who meet minimum qualifications for certain categories of pesticide application. Steward is expected to take the oath of office November 1st in a ceremony at the Clarksville Board of Realtors. Steward is a first term city councilman, replacing Barbara Johnson in North Clarksville. [Read more]
