Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Two Montgomery County residents were recognized in Franklin, Tennessee in February and again at the formal March County Commission meeting, because they were selected as the Montgomery County recipients of at the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA).

The Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award is a statewide recognition program that was instituted by former Governor Phil Bredesen to honor and publicly recognize citizens in the adult and youth category from each county for their exemplary volunteer service to their community.

This Week at APSU: Candlelight Ball auction to raise money for Austin Peay State University scholarships

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Charlie Daniels, the Country Music Hall of Famer known for “sawing on a fiddle and playing it hot,” helped reinvigorate that 400-year-old instrument with his 1979 hit, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” More than 40 years later, his influence continues to transform the music genre, and attendees at the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Candlelight Ball this spring will get a chance to own a piece of country music history when the school auctions off a signed Charlie Daniels fiddle.

Tennessee Williams’ “A Streetcar Name Desire” plays the Roxy Regional Theatre, March 13th-28th

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – One of the greatest works of American theatre is coming to the Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville’s oldest professional theatre, this month.

Dr. Joseph & Nancye Britton proudly present Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play “A Streetcar Named Desire” at the Roxy Regional Theatre, opening Friday, March 13th, at 8:00pm. In keeping with the theatre’s pay-what-you-can opening night tradition, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.
