In January 2019, the APSU School of Nursing began offering its own Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree, which currently includes both nurse educator and family nurse practitioner concentrations.

The first cohort is comprised of roughly 30 students.

Those enrolled in the new MSN program will directly benefit from the grant, which will provide them with hands-on patient care experience through new technology, including one Simbionix PELVIC Mentor Simulator manufactured by 3D Systems and four Breast Examination Trainers manufactured by Limbs & Things.

Dr. Doris Davenport, professor of nursing, researched and submitted the funding request. “With the grant provided by the CMC Community Health Foundation, we were able to purchase state-of-the-art training simulators that will better prepare our Master of Science in Nursing students before and during clinical experiences,” Davenport said. “We are so excited to be able to provide this high-quality learning experience for our students.”
