“Under (Dr. Buchanan’s) leadership and direction, the (counseling) program has grown,” Dr. Eva Gibson, APSU adjust instructor and local school counselor, said. “Not only does she provide her students with quality curriculum, but she plays an active role in strengthening the relationship between the University and the local school system.

“(Buchanan) has participated in collaborative school counselor in-services, facilitated counselor/student gatherings and co-presented at professional conferences on the importance of building relationships,” Gibson, who nominated Buchanan for the award, continued. “Our future school counselors are well equipped under her care.”
