Hilltop Market’s 1st Annual Country Boy Cook-Off to be held Friday, May 1st

Clarksville, TN – On Friday night, May 1st, Hilltop Super Market will hold it’s 1st Annual Country Boy Cook-Off. This event is for local BBQers and is not connected with the professional Cook-off that will take place Saturday, May 2nd.

All you need is a grill and $20.00 to participate. There will be live music, a car show and lots of food.

“When we started the BBQ Cook-off, back in 2010, it started out as a local thing. Then each year, it got bigger and bigger and the bigger guys started coming in,” said Hilltop manager Mike Jackson. “Year three, Dwayne Byard joined in to help with the rules, regulations the scoring, etc.”

“Over the five years, the local guys all dropped out and it’s all big time competitors now,” stated Jackson. “Last year, several of the local guys said they didn’t want to compete against the professionals. So we created this event on Friday night as a small competition for the local guys.”

The cook-off will have two categories; Chicken (Any Parts) and anything you can cook on a grill. 1st place wins $200.00 and 2nd place gets a trophy.

The turn in time for chicken is 8:00pm. Chef’s choice will be at 8:30pm.

Live music starts at 6:00pm with local favorites Backlot Pickers. Modern Day Drifters takes over at 8:00pm.

Hilltop will have a tent setup selling everything you need for cooking out. They will also have BBQ marinades and BBQ sauces, like Hellbilly Moonshiner’s Grilling n Dipping sauces for sale.

There will be plenty of food like fresh smoked BBQ, ribs and half chickens along with the fixins available for purchase.

Don’t forget that Hilltop will be holding their 6th Annual BBQ Cook Off Saturday, May 3rd.

So come out Friday night for lots of food, fun, and fellowship.
