Relay For Life Dinner Celebrates Strength and Courage, Prelude to Main Event

Clarksville, TN – On May 7th, more than 150 cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, supporters and friends gathered at the Hilldale Baptist Church Family Life Center at the Relay For Life 2nd Annual Survivors Dinner.

Introduced and organized by Bill and Joan Farmer, this year’s dinner was the best attendance (at the Survivor lunch and luncheon events) to date.

The Farmers enlisted the support of a capable committee to help reach cancer survivors in Clarksville/Montgomery County that included Paula and Marty Williams, Tracy Davison, Glen and Debbie Shearon, Pauline Bagwell and Ben Carroll.

With Relay For Life Event Co-Chair Cydney Miller and Bill Farmer as Mistress and Master of Ceremony, there was not a dull moment, and keynote speakers Debbie Frazier and Ted Denny delivered encouraging messages of hope for all present.

The Montgomery County Relay For Life leadership team is motivated and encouraged by the increased participation, a testament that more cancer survivors are celebrating more birthdays as a result of the advancements in medical research and technology fighting the disease. The efforts and generous donations of the community are evidenced in the increased presence of cancer survivors at this signature event.

The huge success of the Survivors Dinner is but a prelude to the Main Event, and with anticipation the official Relay For Life event will begin at 6:00pm on Friday, May 17th at the Hilldale Baptist Church Family Life Center Athletic Field.

This celebration represents the world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement, Relay For Life, mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and provide participants with an opportunity to fight back against the disease.
