The MAA is the largest professional society in the country that focuses on mathematics accessible at the undergraduate level. The organization’s members include university, college and high school faculty members; graduate and undergraduate students; pure and applied mathematicians; computer scientists; statisticians; and other government and business professionals.

Vandergriff, who earned his Ph.D. in number theory from Vanderbilt University, has a long history of service with the MAA. He chaired the local arrangement committee when APSU hosted the southeastern section’s annual meeting. He also wrote software for the section to create programs for that meeting. He has coached several teams of students in MAA competitions, and he has served for years as the APSU faculty liaison to the organization.

Vandergriff joined the APSU faculty in 1997. In addition to the MAA, he is a member of American Computing Machinery, the American Mathematical Association, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Tennessee Mathematics Teachers Association.

For more information on Vandergriff, please contact the APSU Department of Computer Science and Technology at 931.221.7840.
