Etcetera art exhibit comes to APSU on October 8th

Clarksville, TN – Artist Jennifer Oliphant wants to create a new appreciation for the beauty of everyday objects. That’s what she has in mind when she sets out to capture images with her camera.

“My inspiration for these projects comes from finding gratitude everyday,” she said. “In finding things to be grateful for, I also began to notice extreme beauty in objects that mostly go unnoticed. Details, not the whole, are what are important to me at this time in my life.”

On October 8th, a new exhibit of Oliphant’s work, titled “Etcetera,” will open in Gallery 108 in the Austin Peay State University Trahern Building. The artist has picked simple but beautiful pieces for this show that pull the viewer deep into the details of everyday scenes and objects.

The title “Etcetera” was chosen for this exhibit because it is a continuation of Oliphant’s previous work, work that she has continued and pieces she hopes to improve upon in the future. The works express her desire to bring the observer closer to objects by accentuating details or limiting them. Ultimately Oliphant wants the viewer to decide where to find the beauty.
