Clarksville Academy announces New Head of Upper School

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school, is pleased to announce the addition of Mike Marciano has Head of Upper School. Head of Schools, Kay Drew announced Thursday, that Coach Marciano would be joining the Cougar family in a full time position. Marciano currently serves as Assistant Football Coach. “When Ms. Colleen White told me she wanted to retire, I knew I had big shoes to fill. Ms. White has been a dedicated member of our staff and family for over 14 years. I am confident that Mike will rise to the challenge of Head of Upper School.”

Marciano is currently employed by Fort Campbell High School and until this season served as the Athletic Director. He is a member of the School Improvement Team, has served as ISS Director and as the administrator facilitating disciplinary referrals. Marciano has been teaching since 1999 and received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Cumberland University in 1997, his Master of Arts in Education from Cumberland College in 1999, his Doctor of Philosophy from Cornerstone University in 2005 and his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership/Principalship from the University of the Cumberlands in 2010.

Clarksville Academy interviewed many applicants for this position and after careful consideration Mike Marciano was chosen for the job. Drew said of his hire, “Mike stood out during interview not just because of his degrees and experience, but because of his educational philosophies. He will be a great addition of our Administrative team as he has already been to our family.”

Marciano is excited about being a full time part of the Cougar family. “My love for Clarksville Academy has only intensified over the last year. It will be nice to go to school everyday with my family.” His educational and leadership philosophies are something he stands by, “Every student is an individual with different gifts, abilities, and talents. As such it is first the administration and then the teacher’s responsibility to ensure that each student has the opportunity to be educated in the most suitable way to fit their individual needs. Learning is a continual process.”

Marciano is married to Holly and they have two sons, Josh and Colby, who are both currently enrolled at Clarksville Academy.

Marciano will begin work at CA on June 6th, 2011.
