Celebrating a Tennessee Triumph: New monument to honor Clarksville’s suffragists

Clarksville, TN – On a July afternoon in 1914, more than 75 people crowded into a house on Madison Street for a meeting of the newly established Clarksville Equal Suffrage League.
The women who joined the league that afternoon spent the next six years facing ridicule and threats of violence in the pursuit of their goal – earning women the right to vote.

Clarksville Academy commencement celebrates 56 Graduating Seniors

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy recently held commencement exercises in the school’s activity center for 56 graduating seniors, members of CA’s Class of 2018.
After the opening procession, and welcoming remarks, Lakeisha Allyah Phillips, Senior Class President, delivered the invocation, followed by Salutatorian, Hannah Elizabeth Flowers’ address to her fellow graduates.

Clarksville Academy students help bring Bicycle Share Program to Clarksville

Clarksville, TN – Thanks to a group of Clarksville Academy students, a grant from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation and a partnership with the city of Clarksville, a bicycle share program will soon come to Liberty park and McGregor park.
The group, comprised of about eight Clarksville students each year, researched and wrote a grant proposal as part of Clarksville Academy’s Challenge Based Learning (CBL).

CA has been named a 2013-2015 Apple Distinguished School in recognition of the innovation, leadership and educational excellence of its 1 to 1 MacBook/ iPad program.
Head of School Kay Drew formally announced the designation during a State of the School Address at a recent Blue and Gold Breakfast, and again during an all faculty surprise celebration.
