Clarksville Kiwanis Clubs gives the gift of Christmas to area children

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Kiwanis Clubs gathered together on December 7th 2010 to bring the joy of Christmas into the hearts of 216 children from the Headstart program and various area child care centers. The annual Children’s Christmas Party is a partnership between the Hilldale and Downtown Kiwanis Clubs, and was organized and chaired by Andrew Hale, and Matt Dyce.

It all kicked off on Monday when roughly 50 people gathered at First Baptist Church to wrap over $7,000 in toys purchased from area Walmarts. The Walmart Corporation gave the Kiwanis Club a generous discount as a donation to the program. The Toy’s included Disney Princess Dolls, Hasbro’s Littlest Petshop dolls, children’s books, Nerf Weather Blitz All-Conditions Footballs, Fisher-Price Dora the Explorer Mega Tunes Guitars, winter hats and gloves, Tonka Lights & Sound – Rescue Force trucks and helicopters, and Road rippers – Street Screamers cars.

Comedy on the Cumberland to help deliver Christmas Gifts to Clarksville children

Clarksville, TN – The next Comedy on the Cumberland show is set for Wednesday, December 15th at 7:00pm in the Riverview Inn Ballroom. The show will feature the very funny Henry Cho, “I’m an Asian with a Southern accent. To a lot of people, that right there is funny.” According to Comedy on the Cumberland Founder Hank Bonecutter, “Henry Cho is one of the most popular stand up comedians in the country, we are fortunate to have Brian Bates and Barb Neligan returning to share the stage with him for the evening.”

The proceeds from the December Show will go to benefit the Downtown Kiwanis Club, and their children’s Christmas programs. Each year, the Downtown Kiwanis Club sponsors a Christmas party and gifts for 125 Head Start children, they also provide books to every third grade student in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, making this truly an event “for the kids”

Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC)Clarksville, TN – On Tuesday night, October 12th, the place to be in Clarksville was the Roxy Regional Theatre. Four hilarious comedians rocked the house with laughter as the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County benefited from a gala night.

Comedy on the Cumberland was the brainchild of Clarksville talk show host and comedian Hank Bonecutter, who saw a demand for stand up comedy in the Clarksville/Fort Campbell community. “With the help of sponsors like F&M Bank, Wendy’s, and Wyatt Johnson, we knew we could affect change in our community”, said Bonecutter. “All of the proceeds generated through the show’s ticket sales go directly to the charity, so people can make a tax deductible donation and enjoy a great show”.

City votes on Clarksville’s Best for the March of Dimes

Best of Clarksville PosterClarksville, Tenn -The Best of Clarksville fundraiser for the March of Dimes is eagerly awaited each year by both businesses and area residents. The fundraiser this year featured 140 businesses in 65 categories; each one looking to score the votes of area residents to be declared The Best of Clarksville. The event consists of local vendor booths, silent auctions, dance performances, free give-a-ways, and a fireworks show by Allen’s Fireworks. All of the money raised is donated to the March of Dimes.

Matthews Nissan Suzuki was the presenting sponsor. Other sponsors included Five Star Radio, Sango Village Florist, US Bank, Cumberland Bank and Trust, FedEx, Allen’s Fireworks, Ad One Advertising, WJZM 1400 AM, and The Leaf-Chronicle.

Comedy on the Cumberland provides post-flood assistance to local branch of the American Red Cross

Comedy on the CumberlandThe Second Comedy on the Cumberland benefit has come and gone. The charity event held on Tuesday evening brought five very funny comedian to Clarksville; raising over $4,000 to help the local chapter of the American Red Cross start on their own road to recovery after the Great Flood of 2010.

Interim CEO Randy Weddle related how they were affected by the flooding. “The flood of 2010 affected your Red Cross just as it did so many citizens of the county and surrounding areas. We had about three feet of water that came through our building, but you would never know it by the way that our strong hearted volunteers responded to the needs of our citizen”. The Red Cross spent a lot of money and expended a lot of their resources, helping local residents during the May 2010 flooding.

Comedy on the Cumberland to return July 20th!

On Tuesday July 20th, at 7:00pm the Roxy Regional Theatre will host some of the areas funniest comedians who will perform as part of the “Comedy on the Cumberland,” charity event. The proceeds from the event will go to benefit The Clarksville-Montgomery County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Comedy on the Cumberland is the brainchild of Hank Bonecutter, general manager of WJZM 1400 AM radio station, and a comedian.

Proceeds from the July 20th show will go to benefit the Clarksville chapter of the American Red Cross, with proceeds going directly to the local chapter. “The great flood of 2010 not only devastated Clarksville, it also devastated the Red Cross facility on Riverside drive”, said Bonecutter, “While the flood waters have receded, during the flooding the local chapter of the Red Cross put a tremendous amount of their resources into our community, and they are still out there on the front lines helping families in need. So it was a no-brainer for us to do something to help them out, and so our next show is going to be for them”. [Read more]
