Movies in the Park this Friday

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation on Friday, July 1st, at Heritage Park Soccer Fields for the Movies in the Park event for July, featuring the 2006 musical drama film, “Dreamgirls,” which is rated PG-13.

All movies start at dusk – around 8:20pm this Friday – with pre-show activities beginning an hour prior. Be sure to bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs. As always, you are welcome to bring your picnic basket, but concessions will be available.

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation this Saturday, June 18th, at Heritage Park soccer fields for this month’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the hit movie, “Transformers,” which is rated PG-13.

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Aetna Insurance are celebrating our nation’s independence this year with the fourth annual Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 3rd, at McGregor Park. The event will be filled with food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. Activities begin at 6:00pm.

Movies in the Park 2011 season to kick off May 28th

Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the FREE outdoor movie series at the Heritage Park Soccer fields, wrapped up its 2010 season with record attendance numbers.

The eight 2010 Movies in the Park films had an average crowd of more than 500 moviegoers per movie throughout the season. Monsters v. Aliens on May 22nd set an attendance record for the 5-year-old series with a crowd of more than 1,300 people.

Queen City Road Race results are now available

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 1st, thousands gathered at Austin Peay Sate University’s Governors Stadium to participate in the 33rd Annual Queen City Road Race. This event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages and features the 5K Relay, 5K Wheelchair/Hand-cycle, 5K and One Mile Movement.

Queen City Road Race Road Closures

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville and Austin Peay State University’s campus will be subject to traffic control on race day — May 1st from 12:15pm until approximately 2:30pm for the event.

The following streets on the campus will be affected for the 5K Races: Marion Street, Drane Street, Farris Drive, Robb Avenue, 8th Street, Henry Street and Hannum Street. In downtown, the following streets will be affected: North 2nd Street, Main Street, Public Square, Franklin Street, 1st Street from Franklin to Commerce Street, Commerce Street from 1st to 3rd Streets, 3rd Street to Franklin Street, University Avenue from Franklin Street to College Street, and College Street to 8th Street. Governors Bass Tournament just weeks away

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – The 17th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just one month away.

This year’s edition will be held Saturday, May 14th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park. Last season’s tourney was postponed from May 8th to May 23rd, due to flood conditions that encased the area. Despite the two-week delay, the tourney still drew 269 boats.

This year, APSU again is hopeful of approaching the 300-boat total—the record of 333 was set in 2009.

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The annual Spring Eggstravanganza will be back on April 23rd at Heritage Park Baseball Fields. The fun begins at 2:00pm with kids in four age groups hunting more than 30,000 eggs, hoping to find the one golden egg. The special egg entitles the finder to a free week session of swim lessons at one of Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s pools.
