Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Summer Youth Program under way and Filling up Quickly

Summer Youth ProgramClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Youth Program is under way and openings at the various sites are filling up quickly!

The Crow Community Center, Summit Heights, Minglewood Elementary School, Hazelwood Elementary School, West Creek Elementary School, locations are available for more registration, as well as two of the teen-specific sites at New Providence Middle School and Moore Elementary School.

Sites are open 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. [Read more]

Gyms at various locations are staffed with directors and assistants, who will help with playtime activities and provide free, instructional classes such as gymnastics and karate. [Read more]

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces winners of the Queen City Road Race Art Contest

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce the winners of the Queen City Road Race Art Contest. Two finalists were selected from each of the participating elementary schools.

The overall winning artwork is featured on the official race T-shirt and event poster. Along with that honor, the top finalist has been awarded $100.00 for their art class. The top three finalists each won a Chick-fil-a party for their art class. Each finalist received a certificate and art kit which were presented at their schools.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Open House

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will conduct an open house regarding the Blueway Concept and Vision on March 12th, 2012 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

West Creek Elementary gets New Assistant Principal

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – Michelle Rhodehamel has been named assistant principal at West Creek Elementary School, replacing Mason Bellamy who was appointed principal at Hazelwood Elementary.

Mrs. Rhodehamel has taught kindergarten and fifth grades during her 10-year tenure with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Her experience includes teaching at Northeast, Kenwood and West Creek Elementary Schools.

Hazelwood Elementary School Principal Selected

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County Director of Schools Mike Harris today announced that Mason Bellamy, Ed.D. will serve as principal of Hazelwood Elementary.

He replaces Rosanne Sanford who was named principal of the Carmel Elementary, which opens in August 2012.

Dr. Bellamy has served as assistant principal at West Creek Elementary for the past year and a half and has five years teaching experience at Sango Elementary. He earned his doctorate in education from Trevecca Nazarene University where he also earned his Master’s in teaching. He completed his B.A. in political science at the University of Kentucky.

Hazelwood, located on Tiny Town Road, serves 800 students.
