Visit Clarksville's Welcome Home Veterans CelebrationClarksville, TN – The annual Welcome Home Veterans Celebration brought a busy schedule of events over a five day period, all designed to honor and celebrate our Veterans.

Activities began on Wednesday with the arrival of the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall, the Korean War Memorial and the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit at Beachaven Winery. A procession actually began at Appleton Harley Davidson and traveled through town, delivering the impressive displays to their temporary location.

Fort Campbell Welcomes Home the Last of the 4th Brigade Combat Team

CurraheeFort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The never ending cycling of soldiers between the battlefield to the home front and vise versa continued Wednesday evening with the return of the final flight of 105 soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Currahees) who returned up early Saturday morning.

This deployment was scheduled to be nine months, a good portion of our brigade about 2000 soldiers returned back at the 6-7 month mark. These soldiers returning today Easy Company of the 2nd/506th Infantry Regiment of the HBO Band of Brothers fame. They were contacting a TA Uplift Mission, or a Train, Assist, and Advise Uplift Mission. Easy company was selected because they finished their mission ahead of schedule out of FOB Salerno in the Khost Province of Afghanistan.” said Major Kamil Sztalkoper, 4th Brigade Combat Team Public Affairs

Fort Campbell Welcome Home Ceremony for the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade

101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – On February 20th, 2012, the 101st Airborne Division welcomed home 186 soldiers from the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade. The Brigade returns from a year deployment to Afghanistan. This was the last incoming flight for the 158th CAB.

With this flight, all Brigades of the 101st Airborne Division are safely back home.

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Fort Campbell held a Welcome Home Ceremony today for elements of its 101st Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion; the flight included the 101st Airborne Division Flag; Fort Campbell’s Commanding General Maj. Gen. John F. Campbell, Command Sgt. Maj. Scott Schroeder, and 25 soldiers.

Major General Campbell and his headquarters element began their most recent “rendezvous with destiny” in June, 2010 when they assumed responsibility and control of RC-East and CJTF-101. Their mission was to conduct combined action counterinsurgency operations to protect the population, increase the competency, capacity, and credibility of Afghan institutions and defeat insurgent forces in partnership with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) and in close coordination with joint, interagency and multinational partners.

The 1st Brigade Combat TeamThe rainy weather that has been over Montgomery County since the early weekend broke for a bit on Monday morning in time to allow 130 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team to return home without getting a good soaking. The soldiers are returning from a tough year long deployment to the Kunar Province of Afghanistan. 38 Soldiers from the Brigade died while deployed in the war zone, numerous others received life changing injuries.

Family and friends of the returning soldiers had gathered together to give their loved ones a proper welcome home.

They were greeted by the new Deputy Commander of the 101st Airborne Division Brig. Gen. Jeffery N. Colt.
