APSU Diversity Committee to host meal packaging event on MLK Jr. Day

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – More than 500 student volunteers will gather on the campus of Austin Peay State University Friday, January 30th for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

In honor of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., volunteers will do their part to help alleviate hunger in a third-world country with a meal-packaging event hosted by the APSU Diversity Committee and Feed My Starving Children. The event will take place from 10:00am-5:30pm at the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center.

Manna Café Ministries extends Warming Shelter Hours

Manna Café MinistriesClarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries is extending its emergency warming shelter until Thursday, November 20th, 2014, at 8:00am. The shelter is located in the TMS Contracting building (635 Frosty Morn Drive).

Volunteers (18 and older) are needed to assist in manning the shelter. Sign up for a four-hour shift on the Manna Café website, www.mannacafeministries.com, on the Refuge page. [Read more]

American Cancer Society Relay For Life Kickoff Rally on October 21st at Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center

American Cancer Society's Relay for LifeClarksville, TN – On October 21st, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® campaign of Montgomery County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at the Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.

In addition to a delicious meal and fellowship with some of Clarksville’s finest volunteers, the rally will feature speakers from the community who have benefitted from funds raised at Relay, will honor cancer survivors, recognize this past year’s participating teams and their contributions toward this effort and during which this year’s campaign theme will be unveiled.

2014 RiverfestClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce the winners of the Riverfest volunteer prize.

The ROTC program at Austin Peay State University will be awarded the $500.00 cash prize for providing the highest number of volunteer hours served at the 2014 Riverfest celebration held September 5th and 6th at McGregor Park.

Riverfest Adventure Zone needs Volunteers

2014 RiverfestClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival is in need of volunteers for the Adventure Zone this weekend. If you have the time please, volunteer for one or more of more of the following shifts at the festival.

Time slots: 9:45am–1:00pm; 12:45pm–4:00pm; and 3:45pm–7:00pm.

This area is located behind the O’Charley’s in Clarksville on Riverside Drive.

More than 800 freshmen to arrive at APSU on August 21st

August 20, 2014

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On Thursday, August 21st, more than 830 incoming freshmen will arrive at Austin Peay State University to move into some of the campus’ residence halls. For many, it’ll be an emotional day as they begin a new phase of their lives.

To make this transition easier, these individuals will be greeted by APSU and community volunteers, who will assist them with any questions they might have and help them carry boxes and suitcases up to their new homes.
