Montgomery County, TN – This Friday’s concert at the Downtown Commons features Trailer Choir, charting the Billboard Hot Country Charts with songs like “Rockin’ the Beer Gut” and “What Would You Say.” Openers include Aaron Lessard, a solo artist based in Nashville, known for having a heavy jazz influence and US Marine Corps Veteran Chris Turner, a singer/ songwriter from Ninety Six, South Carolina.
Openers start at 7:00pm and the featured artist takes the stage at 8:00pm Come early, bring family, friends, chairs, and blankets.

APSU names seasoned pilot/flight instructor Charles Weigandt director of proposed rotor wing program

Clarksville, TN – Charles W. Weigandt, a 24-year U.S. Army veteran and founding member of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, was recently named director of Austin Peay State University’s proposed Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science program, with a concentration in rotor wing (helicopters). He began his new role at APSU on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018.

Clarksville, TN – In 2003, during the opening months of the Iraq War, a young Fort Campbell soldier drove his Humvee over a hidden antitank mine. The resulting explosion covered more than a third of his body and face in burns. Many wondered if he would survive his injuries.

Montgomery County Government announces Michelle Newell as new Public Information Officer

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government is proud to announce Michelle Newell will serve as the communications director and public information officer for Montgomery County Government beginning June 5th, 2017.
Newell holds a B.S. in Corporate Communications from Austin Peay State University. She currently serves as the program director for the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program.

APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board
Clarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.
The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.
