Clarksville-Montgomery County Residents must take precautions during August 21st event
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County is in the path of the Great American Eclipse of August 21st, 2017, making this a prime destination for those who want to view this rare astronomical occurrence.
This will be the first coast-to-coast eclipse in 98 years and the first in the continental United States since 1978. The eclipse can only be seen in a path 60 miles wide across the United State, so this will be a once in a lifetime experience to to witness a fascinating natural phenomenon.

Clarksville, TN – As part of the ongoing PeayClipse lecture series, Austin Peay State University faculty member Dr. J. Allyn Smith will present a talk titled, “The Secret Lives of Astronomers” at 7:00pm on July 22nd, 2017 during the City of Clarksville’s Movies in the Park Series, at McGregor Park.
The talk will take place prior to the evening’s featured film, “The Secret Lives of Pets.”
Clarksville Regional Airport to hold Total Solar Eclipse Viewing

Clarksville, TN – A once-in-a-lifetime sky gazing opportunity will occur this summer and Clarksville Regional Airport (CKV – Outlaw Field) is inviting the community to watch this historic phenomenon from the grounds of the airport.
A total Solar Eclipse will take place on Monday, August 21st, 2017 and Clarksville Regional will host a free-to-the-public Solar Eclipse Viewing Event from noon until 3:00pm.
Astronaut Rhea Seddon to give free talk at Austin Peay on August 20th as part of PeayClipse celebration

Clarksville, TN – On April 12th, 1985, Dr. Rhea Seddon sat on 4.5 million pounds of explosives. It was a moment she’d been preparing for most of her life, but that didn’t stop her from feeling a little anxious.
“It’s pretty scary those first few minutes,” she said during a 2015 AuthorSpeak event at the Linebaugh Library. “You feel this giant explosion way back behind you, and it feels like you’re going to blow up.”
Austin Peay State University hosting educational fair for school-age children the morning of August 21st Eclipse

Clarksville, TN – At 10:00am on August 21st, 2017, the day of the Total American Eclipse—Austin Peay State University will host a special PeayClipse Educational Experience for school-age children in the campus’ basketball arena, the Dunn Center.
“We have 10 different activity stations for them to move through that are educational and fun,” Dr. Karen Meisch, associate dean of the APSU College of Science and Mathematics, said.

Clarksville, TN – In two short months, the heavens—in the words of English poet Lavinia Greenlaw—will throw a “celestial dimmer switch” during the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse, and as excitement builds across the country for this cosmic spectacle, Austin Peay State University is gearing up to host official NASA viewing parties at the campus’ Fortera Stadium.
More than 8,000 people are expected to make their way to the football stadium on August 21st, 2017, to safely witness the total solar eclipse.
Movies in the Park continues June 10 with free showing of ‘Moana’

Clarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the City of Clarksville’s free, outdoor movie series continues on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 with the showing of Disney’s “Moana” at Heritage Park, 1241 Peachers Mill Road.
Pre-show activities, coordinated by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, will begin at 6:30pm.
