City’s Independence Day Celebration takes place July 3rd

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville will celebrate our nation’s independence this year with the ninth annual Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 at Liberty Park. The event is free and open to the public.

Activities and music will begin at 6:00pm Seating is available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Concessions are for sale throughout the park.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park features Guardians of the Galaxy Saturday, June 18th

Movies in the Park - Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – On Saturday, June 18th, Clarksville’s Movies in the Park, the city’s free, outdoor movie series will be showing the movie Guardians of the Galaxy (rated PG-13)!

This showing is at a new location – McGregor Park! The showings at McGregor Park, located at 640 North Riverside Drive, will take place at the North Extension (behind O’Charleys). The season will continue with the last five showings at Liberty Park, located at 1188 Cumberland Drive.

Clarksville’s Frank and Connie Fisher win 22nd Annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament

APSU Governors Bass TournamentBuchanan, TN – On Saturday, May 14th, the 22nd annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament was held on Kentucky Lake. Boats launched from Paris Landing State Park at 6:00am. There were 187 boats competing for $12,000 in prize money.

Although the forecast was for a clear, sunny day, the start of the tournament was anything but. Clouds rolled in, the wind kicked up making for a cold morning with a lot of chop on the water. As the day went on, the clouds departed and the sunny weather promised presented itself.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park begins it’s 11th Season May 7th

Movies in the Park - Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Movies in the Park, the city’s free, outdoor movie series, will celebrate its 11th season as it kicks off on Saturday, May 7th with the showing of Independence Day (PG-13)!

The season begins with the first two showings at Heritage Park, located at 1241 Peachers Mill Road, and followed by the next two showings at a new location – McGregor Park!

APSU’s 22nd Annual Governors Bass Tournament to be held May 14th

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – The 22nd annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament is less than two months away.

This year’s edition, which benefits APSU Athletics, is Saturday, May 14th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing State Park. Last season’s tourney drew more than 200 boats.

The tournament will benefit Austin Peay State University athletics. More than $12,000 dollars in prize money will be awarded.

We are very honored to have as this year’s keynote speaker Jim Squires, former Tennessean reporter, former Chicago Tribune editor and author of much-buzzed-about political Roman a clef West End, published under the pen name Crockett White.
