Clarksville Montgomery County School System has Four Middle Schoolers make State SCORE Scholarship Semifinals

Montgomery County, TN – Four CMCSS middle schoolers have made the semifinalist list for Tennessee SCORE’s “Rise to the Challenge” scholarship competition.

Clarksville Firefighters Local #3180 and Servpro Montgomery County donate pallet of copy paper to Clarksville-Montgomery County Teachers Warehouse

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Firefighters Local #3180 and Servpro Montgomery County teamed together to make a donation to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System’s Teachers Warehouse. The donation of a pallet of copy paper fills a constant need for area teachers.
“Through our contacts with Mrs. Candy Johnson we learned a lot about the Teachers Warehouse. We come to find out that one of the things that they’re always in need of, and they’re really hurting for is copy paper,” said David Kirkland, President of Clarksville Firefighters Local #3180. “I guess it’s just because of the fact that the classrooms have become much more automated; and there a lot more stuff that has to be run off, and copied.”

Middle School Scholars to Walk in the Footsteps of U.S. Leaders
Washington, D.C. – Outstanding middle school students from across the United States took part in an extraordinary leadership development experience, the 2014 Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC): Foundations of Leadership I, an Envision program.
The program provides a historical view of leadership and encourages young scholars to develop their own leadership skills and strategies for success in the 21st century.
Planters Bank Features Artwork from Two Local Teachers in April

Clarksville, TN – Long-time friends and art teachers Maureen Griffin and Debbie Harrison have collaborated to create an exhibit featuring ceramics, watercolor, photography and mixed media pieces.
Their exhibit, “Two Friends, Two Teachers,” will be on display at the Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery from Thursday, April 3rd – Wednesday, April 30th.
CMCSS announces New College and Career Academies

Clarksville High School Marching Band has successful year of competition

Clarksville, TN – 2012 has shown to be a very successful year for the Clarksville High School Marching Wildcats. With the graduation of 30 seniors, the new freshmen, returning students and staff members have worked and trained extensively this summer.
This fall in marching competitions they were rewarded for their efforts with wins at Montgomery Central Indian Marching Invitational, Northeast High School, West Creek Sound Marching Invitational and The Mid-West Tennessee Marching Band Competition at Waverly Central High School.
Richview Middle School Students to Compete in National History Day Competition

Clarksville, TN – All Eighth grade PASS (gifted program) students in Montgomery County competed in the district level of the National History Day Contest on February 22nd, 2012.
Students who placed at the district level moved on to compete at the state level on April 22nd, 2012 in Nashville Tennessee.

Emily Ritchart, John Courson, Jake Kolaski, Sidney McCarty, and Cherie Saffold of Richview Middle School are heading to Washington D.C. to compete in National History Day.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System HR Reorganization Introduces Educator Quality

Montgomery County, TN – When Bruce Jobe retired last month as the Chief Human Resources Officer, Schools Director Mike Harris named former HR Director Jeanine Chester as the new Chief and promoted former Assistant HR Director Cydney Miller to take over Mrs. Chester’s position. That left the group with the opportunity to reconfigure the open position into a staff member who would be dedicated to the hiring of quality teachers and school administrators.
Phyllis Casebolt, who has served as principal at Clarksville High for the past three years, will begin her duties this month as Director of Educator Quality.
