Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will once again present a Summer reading Program for the children and young adults in Montgomery County. “One World, Many Stories” is the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program in libraries all across Tennessee and the nation. Everyone can participate in this free program!
Sign up at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library in the Children’s’ Library. Programs begin on June 6th, 2011 and continue through July 8th, 2011. Children are rewarded for reading or for listening to books being read. [Read more]
Public Library Classic Silent Film Series Finale Thursday, May 12th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will be presenting Nanook of the North, the very first feature length documentary, as the final film in a series of classic silent films screened in March, April and May.
Nanook of the North was among the first 25 films to be chosen for preservation by the National Film Registry because of its stature as of one of a group of “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant films.” (National Film Registry website)

Millions of Americans to Unite on Thursday, May 5th, for the 60th Annual Observance of the National Day of Prayer
Clarksville, TN – As American troops remain in harm’s way, fighting for democracy and liberty around the globe, citizens of the United States are preparing to celebrate their freedom to gather, worship, and pray. Millions will answer the call to prayer on May 5th in observance of the 60th annual National Day of Prayer. Organized events will be held in thousands of public venues where intercession will be made for America and its leadership.
This year’s theme, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” is based on Psalm 91:2: “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” National Day of Prayer Task Force (NDPTF) Chairman Shirley Dobson, wife of Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson, said, “At this perilous and uncertain juncture in our country’s history, it is critical that we remain in prayer. The American people continue to be plagued with challenges that defy simple answers, and our hope lies in humbly seeking the Almighty’s guidance, protection, and blessing – not only on the National Day of Prayer, but throughout the year.” [Read more]
Women Veterans Outreach

Clarksville, TN – Women Veterans of America Chapter 20 is hosting a Women Veterans Outreach on May 20th, 2011. The outreach will be held at the William O. Beach Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville, TN from 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Bi-county holds Household Hazardous Waste Day

Montgomery County, TN – Bi-County Solid Waste Management will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, April 9th from 8:00am to 2:00pm in the Veterans Plaza Parking Lot on Pageant Lane. The collection site will accept items such as. household cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, gasoline, transmission fluid, pool chemicals, etc.
Veterans Outreach slated for Civic Hall

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs, is hosting a daylong Veterans Outreach for veterans and their dependents from 10:00am to 3:00pm, April 15th, at William O. Beach Civic Hall in Veterans Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville.
Representatives from the MCVSO, TDVA, VA health care, local veterans groups and federal, state, county and community agencies will be available to provide information and enrollment opportunities for veterans and other eligible beneficiaries. [Read more]
Bi-County Household Hazardous Waste Day April 9th

Montgomery County, TN – Bi-County Solid Waste Management will be having it’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Saturday, April 9th from 8:00am – 2:00pm in the Veterans Plaza Parking Lot. Veterans Plaza is located at 350 Pageant Lane.
Items accepted from Montgomery County and Stewart County residents only. No commercial items will be accepted.
Batteries, oil, paint, anti-freeze and electronics will no longer be accepted since these items are accepted year round at the Bi-County Landfill located at 3212 Dover Road. [Read more]
Veterans Information Seminar slated for Civic Hall

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Career Center, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, will host a Veterans Information Seminar from 9:00am to 11:30am, Thursday, January 27th at the Montgomery County Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane.
Veterans can hear presentations from representatives of several local organizations to include the Army Career & Alumni Program, the Family Employment Readiness Program, Urban Ministries, Goodwill, and Centerstone. [Read more]
Veterans Information Seminar slated for Civic Hall

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Career Center, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, will host a Veterans Information Seminar from 9:00am to 11:00am October 21st at the Montgomery County Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane.
Veterans can speak with representatives of several local organizations about employment rights and services, job placement, veterans’ preferences, homeless programs, VA disability compensation, dependent benefits, GI Bill and other VA education benefits, and VA health care, among other programs and services veterans are entitled to.
Additionally, Assistant Director Stacey Hopwood will give a briefing about the array of services offered at the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, and Michael Elliott will discuss services for veterans available through the Career Center.
