March to the Past was held Saturday at Fort Defiance Civil War Park

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hosted March to the Past at Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center Saturday, May 14th, 2022 from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
“We are doing our annual March to the Past today. This is a Friends of Fort Defiance event. We help hold it once a year. This event is actually older than the building. The building has been here 11 years but they have been doing March to the Past for over 15 years. So we kinda of inherited this event when we started up here,” stated William Parker, the Historical Interpreter at Fort Defiance.
Sevier Day to be held at Fort Defiance, Saturday

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 12th, 2020, the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center will hold it’s annual Sevier Day from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
The event focuses on the frontier and colonial history of Clarksville. Native American and frontier re-enactors will demonstrate activities such as flint knapping, an authentic blacksmith operation, frontier camp life, ax throwing, and flintlock musket firing.
“Valentine Sevier and his family settled this area in 1790 and built a compound and station at the confluence of the Cumberland and Red Rivers,” said William Parker, Historical Interpreter at Fort Defiance.

Festivities are free of charge and diverse, offering something for visitors of all ages looking to have a great time at one of Clarksville’s most treasured gathering places.

Fort Defiance to host two events this Saturday

Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, March 18th, 2017 at Clarksville’s Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center for a living history demonstration by the 3rd Kentucky Infantry.
Soldiers will be dressed in Civil War period uniforms and accouterments, there will be a camp, and musket firing demonstrations will take place.

Fort Defiance Interpretive Center holds Civil War Reenactment and Book Signing event

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, March 19th, the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center hosted reenactment by the 5th Tennessee Company “E” reenactment and book signing event. Uniformed Reenactors demonstrated the life of a Civil War soldier along with musket firings from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
Author Michael Shoulders held the launching of his new book “Crossing the Dead Line” at the Center from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. He signed copies and read from his new book.
