Clarksville’s Civil War Story to Air on NPT2

Clarksville, TN – “Crossroads of Change, Clarksville, Tennessee 1861-1865,” a locally-produced video providing a perspective of the impact of the Civil War upon Clarksville and its inhabitants during the years 1861 to 1865, will air on Nashville Public Television’s alternate channel, NPT2, on Saturday, October 22nd at 8:30pm, and Sunday, October 23rd at 4:30pm.
The program is part of the Tennessee Channel, a four-hour block of programming featuring programs about the life of our state, which broadcasts simultaneously to all six public television networks across Tennessee.
Actor Keith McCoy portrays a member of the US Colored Troops in this scene from “Crossroads of Change, Clarksville, Tennessee 1861-1865.” The video was researched, written and filmed in Montgomery County and is based on local journals and diaries of the Civil War era.
Clarksville and Montgomery County Hosting 52nd Annual Christmas Parade

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville has partnered with the Montgomery County Government this year to co-host the 52nd Annual Christmas Parade. The parade will be a night-time, lighted Christmas parade and is scheduled for December 3rd starting at 5:00pm.

Montgomery County Commissioner Charlie Keene to be on “Clarksville in Review”

Clarksville, TN – This Saturday on “Clarksville in Review”, join Hank Bonecutter and his guest, Charlie Keene, Montgomery County Commissioner and local Pharmacist, as they discuss synthetic drugs, and the county’s rejection of a synthetic drug resolution banning the sale of those products locally.
Then, Beatles author Nancy Lee Andrews will be discussing the Beatles, her book “A Dose of Rock n Roll” and events next week to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Clarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network will hold its first annual “Connecting for Good,” Resource Fair designed to connect nonprofit organizations with local businesses and the community. The event will be held on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 from 11:00am-4:00pm, at the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Office located at 25 Jefferson Street in the Green Bank.

Public Input Meeting to be held October 25th

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Office of Facilities Development will hold a Public Input meeting to allow interested citizens to view the proposed design drawings and express their comments concerning re-design to the parking of Veterans Plaza.
The meeting will be held at the William O. Beach Civic Hall, Tuesday, October 25th at 6:30pm. Those who are unable attend the meeting may stop by the Facilities Development office, 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 201, to review the proposed plan and leave comments.
American Cancer Society Relay For Life Will Hold Kickoff Rally on October 18th at Waterstreet Events Center

Clarksville, TN – On October 18th, 2011 at 6:00pm, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® of Montgomery County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at the Waterstreet Events Center for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.
The rally will feature speakers from the community who have benefitted from the funds raised at Relay and will honor cancer survivors. This also will be the first opportunity to register a team and select a campsite for the overnight event to be held on May 18th at the activity field adjacent to the Hilldale Baptist Church Family Life Center. Clarksville, TN – The Salvation Army will be taking applications for its Christmas Assistance Program at 208 Kraft Street, Clarksville, for residents of Montgomery, Stewart, and Houston Counties the week of October 17th thru 21st.
Applications will be taken Monday, October 17th thru Friday, October 20th from 9:00am to 12:00pm and that same Monday thru Thursday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. All low-income families needing toys for their children (ages birth thru 12 years) and Seniors, age 60 & over, needing food assistance may apply. [Read more]
Montgomery County Receives Greater Nashville Regional Council Award

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County was recently honored with an Award from Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) for “Energy Conversation and Resource Protection”.
The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government have worked together with leadership from several area businesses to establish the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program (CMCGCP).
The idea for the Green Certification Program came from a Leadership Clarksville project of the 2010 class.
