Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The annual Montgomery County College and Career Night for students and their parents will be September 23rd, 2013 from 6:00om-8:00pm at Austin Peay State University’s Foy Fitness Center.

This event gives students exposure to a wide array of post high school options, allowing them to informally visit booths to pick up information about colleges, post secondary institutions and career opportunities and speak with representatives of those institutions. [Read more]

Montgomery County Safehouse Receives Donation of Winter Clothes

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOMontgomery County, TN – Safehouse director, Christy Bussell, accepts a generous donation of women and children winter clothing from Clarksville City Councilwoman Kaye Jones.

Safehouse is the local shelter for women and children needing safe refuge.

To support the mission of the Safehouse, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office collects and recycles cell phones with all proceeds going to Safehouse.

Clarksville-Montgomery Public Library offers Free Downloadable Music and Online Classes

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery Public Library will be offering two new electronic resources for library card holders in Montgomery County – Freegal Music and Universal Class – available immediately on the library website: www.mcgtn.org/library — under the E-Resources tab.

Freegal Music, which is short for Free and Legal, is a resource that expands the collection of music available to C-MCPL library card holders by over 3 million songs. Each cardholder in good standing may download up to three MP3 files per week at no charge. These songs become the property of the library user once they are downloaded. [Read more]

Clarksville Police Union “Clothe a Child” event Saturday

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 14th 2013, at the Sango Wal-Mart, at 8:00am, the Clarksville Police Union will be taking fifty under-privileged children clothes shopping. Each child will get to spend $100.00.

The children have been selected from 10 elementary schools spread throughout Montgomery County. The event will last no more than (1) one hour. Detective Tyler Barrett urges anyone to come out to assist and that the event should be fun for all involved.

American Red CrossClarksville, TN – The Two Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting “Ante Up for the Red Cross” to be held on Saturday, November 9th from 6:00pm – 10:00pm.

From pizza to subs, there is something on the menu for everyone.

Victory Lane Arcades is a family oriented establishment with a variety of video and arcade games for children to play. “We wanted to make a place where kids could come eat and have fun,” stated Nora Ashby. “The younger kids get really excited about the games.”

Montgomery County Government to Vote on Ordinance Requiring Shade for Outdoor Dogs

Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC)Montgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:00pm, an amendment is being presented to the Montgomery County Commission that will require that pet owners ensure outdoor pets have access to shade on hot days.

Currently, our local Animal Control department is not requiring pet owners to provide shade for their animals because the law doesn’t say “shade.”

Mobile Mammography Coach coming to Hilltop Supermarket Friday

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – The Saint Thomas Health Our Mission in Motion Mobile Mammography Coach will be at Hilltop Supermarket’s parking lot this Friday, August 30th, 2013 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm.

The coach provides mammography for women who cannot afford the time away from work for appropriate screenings. It also helps women with no insurance through support from organizations like Susan G. Komen.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – A community open house will be held at Pisgah Elementary School Sunday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The school is located on the corner of Hazelwood Road and Needmore Road.
