Movies in the Park to return June 13th

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Are you missing the movie theater? Looking for a safe way to get out of the house for some quality family time? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the return of Movies in the Park presented by Kyrstin Frate with Keller Williams.

The first event will be the movie Black Panther on Saturday, June 13th, 2020 at the Liberty Park Athletic Field, near the playground. The movie will begin at sunset, which is around 8:00pm.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department to hold Virtual 5K

April 24, 2020

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Whether you’re already active, looking to get off the couch, or just want to stay indoors, this newest Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department event is for you.

Beginning at 5:00pm on April 24th, 2020, registration will open for the first-ever Clarksville Parks and Recreation Virtual 5k. The event is designed to allow participants to choose between three varying distances. Participants can complete their run anywhere and anytime between April 24th, 2020 and May 24th, 2020.

Runners are encouraged to use Liberty Park or the Clarksville Greenway, as mile markers will be placed at those parks within the next week.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will host Handmade Holidays, a two-day, indoor juried craft market featuring more than 60 of the best local and independent artists, designers and crafters.

The eighth annual Handmade Holidays will be from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Saturday, November 9th and from noon to 4:00pm, Sunday, November 10th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

Shoppers can expect to find seasonal décor, ceramics, woodworking, metalwork, apparel, jewelry, soaps, toys, fabric crafts, candies, edibles, children’s accessories and more.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Clarksville BBQ Bash winners

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hosted Clarksville’s third annual Clarksville BBQ Bash on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 at Liberty Park.

The BBQ Bash included a full barbecue competition, people’s choice, cornhole tournament, artisan vendors and kids activities.

Barbeque Competition: Nineteen competitors from near and far met on the banks of the Cumberland River this weekend to see who had the best barbeque. A team of judges evaluated barbeque in three categories (pork, chicken, ribs) based on the following criteria: taste, appearance, and texture.

APSU to debut Trebuchet at Clarksville BBQ Bash

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) will haul its medieval siege machine to the Clarksville BBQ Bash on October 19th, 2019 to hurl pumpkins hundreds of feet.

Bryan Gaither – lab manager for the APSU Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy – has been working on the machine, called a trebuchet, for several weeks.

Clarksville BBQ Bash next Saturday at Liberty Park

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 29th, 2019, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host its 3rd barbecue contest “Clarksville BBQ Bash” at 10:00am at Liberty Park located at 1188 Cumberland Drive.

Participating teams comprised of multiple people or an individual from near and far will compete to see who has the best BBQ and for a total of $5,000 in cash prizes! Riverfest provides something for Everyone

RiverFest 2019Clarksville, TN – By all accounts, this year’s Riverfest was a big success. The weather was perfect, attendance was strong, and the entertainment was top-notch.

Three days of activities began Thursday evening with the annual Riverfest Art Show at Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Kara Zahn and her team did a great job this year, bringing in a full house to view dozens of entries in multiple categories and age divisions.

Montgomery Gentry closed Riverfest 2019 in style, with a big crowd lining the hillside in front of the Miller Lite stage to watch an impressive Saturday night performance.
