Montgomery County holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for RichEllen Park

Montgomery County, TN – On Monday, October 19th, 2015 at 4:00pm, Montgomery County Government held Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new RichEllen Park. The park, located just off Highway 149, 2 miles past Hilltop Super Market, will serve the Cumberland Heights and Palmyra communities in southern Montgomery County.
“I didn’t think this day would ever get here,” stated Montgomery County Parks Director Jerry Allbert. “It’s been a long time coming since the first time we stood here and dug a little dirt in the ground and said we are going to build this park. We’ve come a long way.”
Montgomery County’s Students on Committees Program Kicks Off

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government is pleased to be kicking off the first year of our Students on Committees Program. Twelve students from area high schools have been selected to serve as ex-officio members of various County Government committees for the 2015-16 school year.
Students began attending committee meetings in September and will be included in all county activities for the remainder of the school year. [Read more]
Pillars of Hope exhibit now on Display at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government has recently accepted the Pillars of Hope exhibit from the Volunteer Clarksville organization.
As many may remember, the Pillars of Hope were created during the 9/11 Serve to Remember Days of Service in 2012, in partnership with the Austin Peay State University Department of Art Professors Ken Shipley and Cynthia Marsh.
Montgomery County unveals Emergency Notification App

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government is pleased to announce the release of an emergency notification app for iOS devices. The app, MCGTNotify, is free to download and is currently available for those with Apple devices.
MCGTNotify will be an immediate source for local emergency notifications. It also includes a county departmental directory, the Sheriff’s Office booking log and the daily court docket – available right at your fingertips!
Montgomery County Government needs mentors for Tennessee Promise Program

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government is seeking community volunteers to mentor students taking part in the Tennessee Promise program. Tennessee Promise allows any Tennessee high school graduate the opportunity to attend a community college, Tennessee College of Applied Technology or to get an applicable associate’s degree from a four-year institution, tuition free.
Mentors are assigned to students within their county and help students eliminate the barriers of accessing post-secondary education.
Montgomery County Government selects Christi Holt as Community Corrections Program Manager

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Mayor’s Office is pleased to announce that Christi Holt has been selected as the new Community Corrections Program Manager.
Christi has been with Montgomery County Government for over 20 years, serving in such roles as case officer for Community Corrections, school resource officer for the Sheriff’s Office and most recently as a probation officer with the Juvenile Department.

APSU College of Science and Mathematics, Communication University of China sign collaboration agreement

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and Communication University of China (CUC) recently signed an agreement that will see an international exchange of ideas, students and faculty in the fields of science and technology.
Four representatives from the Beijing-based institution visited APSU’s Clarksville campus Tuesday, July 28th and Wednesday, July 29th to tour the University’s facilities and meet with University representatives.
Historic Courthouse becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Historic Courthouse is the latest government building to become Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified.
Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett and the majority of the employees who work at the courthouse attended the green ribbon cutting.
Clarksville Dentistry Receives Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification

Montgomery County, TN – Clarksville Dental Center is the latest business to become Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified.
Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, City of Clarksville and Chamber of Commerce Director Melinda Shepard attended their green ribbon cutting to congratulate the doctors and staff on earning their certification.

Montgomery County Parks and Recreation wins National Award for Rotary Park’s Accessible Trail addition

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Department was recently nationally recognized by the Coalition for Recreational Trails (CRT) with an award for the Rotary Park Phase II Accessible Trail.
Nine trail projects from across the country were chosen by the CRT as recipients of its Tom Petri Annual Achievement Awards. This award is in recognition for their outstanding use of Recreational Trails Program (RTP) funds.
